Life Groups


Winter Life Groups start up the week of January 28 and run for 12 weeks, through the week of April 15. Life groups are a great way to build your faith while connecting with your church family in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. We would love to have you in our groups! Just click on the group(s) you would like to join. Your group facilitator will contact you with the date, time and location of your first meeting. Welcome, and enjoy!

Topic: “Prayer”
This prayer life group takes place each Sunday morning throughout the year before service.  Meetings consist of a 10-minute devotion on prayer and 20 minutes of praying for the church and that morning’s service.  All are welcome to attend – join the group to receive email updates on the latest prayer initiatives at Chair City Church.

Topic“Good to Great in God’s Eyes” (Chip Ingram)
Description: Do you want to be a “good” Christian or a “great” Christian?  Good Christians live the life, but great Christians leave a legacy.  Author Chip Ingram offers you practical steps for becoming great in all areas of life: spiritual growth, family, relationships, and career.  If you’re ready to take your faith to the next level, please join us for our Men’s Life Group Series, “Good to Great in God’s Eyes.”

Topic: “FREEDOM” (Cost for workbook:  $10)
Description: Unique Bible study and two-day retreat experience (May 4-5) focusing on personal growth in the Lord.  Learn to walk in the abundant life that Jesus desires for you.  The mission of “Freedom” is to equip you to remove every obstacle to intimacy with God and walk in the true freedom provided through the work of the cross.

Topic: “The Real God” (Chip Ingram)
Description: Join us on Friday nights at the building for fun family activities!  We will enjoy family gatherings that will include a brief devotion consisting of short videos (3-5 minutes long) followed by some discussions.  Afterwards, we will play different board games or activities each week (such as trips to bowling, skating, movies, etc.)  Come expecting to have fun and draw closer together!

Topic: “Parenting is Heart Work"

Description: There are countless ways to try to get a child’s attention and to effect change—but here’s the truth—unless you deal with a child through his or her heart, you are not likely to see lasting change.  In this group, you can learn to truly reach your child’s heart to teach, train, and build a tremendous relationship.

TopicStephen Ministry Training
Description: Do you have a strong desire to be used by God to minister to people who are going through a difficult time, but just don’t feel you have the right words or know what to do for them?  Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of Biblical training on topics including listening, feelings, boundaries, assertiveness, and how to provide Christian care in a variety of situations such as grief, divorce, terminal illness, and more.

Topic“12 Women of the Bible”  (Lysa Terkeurst)
Description: In this study, we will look at spiritual lessons learned from twelve women of the Bible and what they mean for our life today.  We will learn how they lived through their failures as well as their successes, how they drew near to God in a world filled with tests and trials, and how they found lasting contentment in Him.

Topic: “Approval Addiction” (Joyce Meyer)
Description: Many people are incapable of feeling good about themselves.  For some, the quest for approval becomes an addiction, a constant seeking for the approval of others to help us overcome feelings of rejection and low self-esteem.  This study encourages us to become addicted to Jesus and will help us learn to live for God’s approval alone.

Topic: “Song of Solomon for Students” (Tommy Nelson)
Description: Dating.  Romance.  Marriage.  Emotions.  Sex. These are deep waters and waters that we must have the true compass or else they will cause such pain in our lives.  Tommy Nelson, the expert on Song of Solomon and gifted teacher, teaches the first 4 chapters of this wonderful book.  This series will accomplish the following for your students or kids:

  • Give biblical guidance on dating and what is “courting”
  • Becoming the right type of person rather than finding the right person
  • Romance, Marriage & Sexuality are a gift from God and God has a very distinct design and boundaries for these gifts
