2018 Summer Life Groups

This prayer life group takes place each Sunday morning throughout the year before service. Meetings consist of a 10-minute devotion on prayer and 20 minutes of praying for the church and that morning’s service. Communion is shared the first Sunday of the month. Topic: “Celebrate Matthew” (Keith Loy)
Description: Following Jesus is more than believing certain doctrines and behaving certain ways. It means seeing your life shaped more into the image of Christ. The gospel of Matthew presents one of Jesus' most influential messages to his followers: The Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7). In it Jesus teaches about the essence of discipleship—the character, conduct, and commitment reflected in a genuine Christ-follower.

Topic: “Celebrate Titus” (Keith Loy)

: Even if you don't think of yourself as a leader, your life influences those around you. And most people hope that their influence on others is positive. In his pastoral letter to Titus, the apostle Paul unlocks the secrets to godly influence. This study offers insights on Christian leadership that you can use whether you influence one person or one hundred thousand.

Topic: "Not a Fan" (Kyle Idleman)
Description: Twenty times in the New Testament, Jesus Christ issued a compelling and challenging invitation: "Follow Me." Jesus is not interested in mere fans. He doesn't want enthusiastic admirers. He wants completely committed followers. This study examines what it means to deny one's self and truly follow Jesus.

Topic: “It Starts at Home” (Kurt & Olivia Brunner)
Description
: Learn to confidently teach your kids about God.  Many of us do all we can to ensure that our children grow up smart, athletic, popular and polite, but what if we're missing the chance to teach them what matters most?  This study will show us how to build a legacy of faith for our children that will not only serve them well in this life, but for all eternity.

Topic: “Stuck”  (Jennie Allen)
Description: So many of us live stuck. Stuck in trying to seem perfect. Stuck in sadness. Stuck feeling numb. Stuck pursuing more stuff to make us happy. These stuck places often go unattended inside of us and they are shaping our lives more than we would like to think. Stuck is a journey to take an honest look at the fight going on inside, leading us to the God who has a plan to restore it, to restore us, to help us become "unstuck."

Day/Time: Thursday, 10:30 a.m.--noon
Location: Westminster

Topic: "Psalms—Prayers of the Heart"  (Eugene Peterson)
Description
: The Psalms show us how to relate to God as we pray our heart—they help us express our doubts, fears, anger, joy, and thankfulness to Him.  Join us as we explore where we are, who we are and what God means to us through the Psalms.

Topic: "Befriend"
Description: We live in a world where real friendship is hard to find. Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we retreat to the safety of our small, self-made digital worlds. Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. This study invites your teens and pre-teens to see the breadth of Christ’s love for people and outlines principles for befriending those around us with the love of Jesus.
